Rotary Club of Lekki phase 1 works with the locals in immunization exercise
As part of its objective of identifying a need in the society and meeting it up, Rotary Club of Lekki Phase 1 recently made a donation of 20 brand new Wheel chairs to two hospitals in Lagos.
The Hospitals are the Island Maternity Hospital and The General Hospital in the Central Business District of Broad street.
Each of the hospitals visited was handed over 10 wheel chairs.
In her remarks during the presentation, the Rotary Club President, , Rtn. Ifeoma Anieze Corona explained that the gesture was a way of reaching out to humanity and service to the community
“We visited the centre to find out some of its needs and how we can support in our own little way as a club. Government cannot do everything; they need humanitarian deeds like this so the society can be progressive.
“That is why we are here to donate this equipment that will be of help to the patients in all areas in the hospitals. Rotarians are known for their humanitarian gestures. We delight a lot to put smiles on the faces of people all over the world.”
The President, Rotn. Corona stated that providing such medical equipments by the Rotary Club is what they normally as part of humanitarian services “so today we are here to donate wheelchair to Island Maternity Hospital and the General Hospital. These are things they need and it covers one area of focus in Rotary Club which is health. That’s why we are here to support our and help our community .
And for her as a President giving has always been a passion for her. She is naturally always happy to give. And joining the Rotary club therefore widened her horizon in charity work.
In her words, “I am very happy to be part of this project today. You feel happy when you give. There are many people that will benefit from this project and then also helping the government is key in this area because it is clear that the government cannot do this alone. They need charitable organisation like the Rotary Club to assist them.
Commending their effort, the Head of nurses at the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, Oluwatoyin Champion expressed the management’s gratitude to the Rotary Club of Lekki, Phase 1 for the wonderful gesture and promised that that they will make judicious use of the wheel chairs. “They are things we use on a daily basis. We are grateful for your support and are open to partnership with you in this hospital. Whenever they have anything for us they shouldn’t hesitate to contact us. We are here and we wouldn’t mind to do our own CSR with them. If they need us to give health education to their members, we are open to it.
