Rotary Club of Lekki phase 1 donates wheelchairs to hospitals

As part of its commitment to addressing societal needs, the Rotary Club of Lekki Phase 1 recently donated 20 brand new wheelchairs to two hospitals in Lagos. The recipients were Island Maternity Hospital and the General Hospital in the Central Business District of Broad Street, with each hospital receiving 10 wheelchairs.

During the presentation, the club’s Change Maker President (CMP), Rtn. Ifeoma Anieze Corona, highlighted the club’s dedication to community service and humanitarian efforts. She remarked, “We visited the centers to identify their needs and determine how we can support them as a club. The government cannot do everything alone; they require humanitarian actions like these to ensure societal progress. Our donation aims to assist patients in these hospitals, demonstrating Rotarians’ commitment to humanitarian gestures and spreading smiles globally.”

President 2021/22 (CMP) Rtn. Corona emphasized that providing medical equipment is a regular part of the Rotary Club’s humanitarian services. She stated, “Today, we are here to donate wheelchairs to Island Maternity Hospital and the General Hospital. These are essential items, addressing one of Rotary Club’s focus areas: health. Supporting our community in this way is a crucial part of our mission.”

Rtn. Corona also shared her personal passion for giving, which has been amplified through her involvement with the Rotary Club. “I am very happy to be part of this project today. Giving brings joy, especially when it benefits many people and supports government efforts. Charitable organizations like the Rotary Club play a vital role in assisting the government.”
